BELLADONA

Belladona also called as Deadly Nightshade.

Belladonna works upon every part of the nervous system, furious anticipation, distorted special senses, twitching, convulsions and pain. 

Mind or mental symptoms

Patient is in delerium condition and lives in his/her world.
Patient has abnormal behavior (e.g.., Biting, Kicking, attempt to escape, frightful images,furious, Loss of consciousness ).
Disinclined to talk. Weakness of memory.
Dizziness.
Hallucinations ( sees monsters, hideous faces). 

Head symptoms

Pain from cold

Vertigo (with falling to left side or backwards). 
Sensitive to least contact. 
Much throbbing and heat. 
Headache from suppressed catarrhal flow. 
Sudden outcries. 
Headache (noise, pressure, twitching, walking, certain movements)
Boring of head into pillow ( drawn backward and rolls from side to side). 
Constant moaning. 
Hair splits (is dry and comes out). 
Headache worse on right side and when lying down.
Palpitation reverberating in head with labored breathing. 
Pain (especially in forehead, also occiput, and temples). 

Face symptoms

Burning Red. Swelling of upper lip. 
Facial neuralgia with twitching muscles and flushed face.
Bluish-red.
Hot.

Eyes symptoms

Eyes paining.
Burning  deep in eyes on lying down. 
Pupils dilated (during heat). Ocular illusions (fiery appearance). 
Diplopia, squinting, spasms of lids. 
Sensation as if eyes were half closed. 
Eye lids (half open, winking).
Fundus congested.
Eyes feel swollen and protruding, staring, brilliant; conjunctiva red; dry, burn.
Shooting in eyes. 
Exophthalmus. 

Ear symptoms

Unbearable  pain in middle and external ear. 
Humming noises. 
Parotid gland swollen. 
Sensitive to loud tones. 
Hearing very acute. 
Otitis media. 
Pain causes delirium. 
Child suddenly cries out in sleep (throbbing and beating pain deep in ear, identify with heart beat). 
Hematoma auris. 
Acute and sub-acute conditions of Eustachian tube. 
Autophony-hearing one's voice in ear.

Nose or Nasal symptoms

Imaginary odors. 
Itching  in tip of nose. Bleeding of nose, with red face.

Mouth symptoms

Pain and burning.

Throat symptoms

Cough with pain in left hip.

Extremities symptoms

Arthritis.

Joints swollen, red, shining, with red streaks radiating.

Back symptoms

Stiff neck. 
Swelling of glands of neck. 
Pain in nape, as if it would break. 
Pressure on dorsal region most painful. 
Lumbago, with pain in hips and thighs.

Skin symptoms

Dry and hot skin like swollen, sensitive; burns scarlet.
Eruption like scarlatina, suddenly spreading. 
Erythema(like  pustules on face). 
Glands swollen, tender, red. 
Boils. Alternate redness and paleness of the skin. 
Acne rosacea. 
Suppurative wounds.

Fever symptoms

A high feverish state with comparative absence of toxemia. 
Burning, pungent, steaming, heat. 
Feet icy cold. 
Superficial blood-vessels, distended. 
Perspiration dry only on head. 
No thirst with fever.

Modalities

Worse, touch, jar, noise, draught, after noon, lying down. 

Better, semi-erect.

BRYONIA ALBA  (Wild Hops)

Acts on all serous membranes and the viscera they contain. 

Aching in every muscle and joints. 

The keynotes are the  stitching, tearing type of pains in the joints and back and muscles; worse by motion, better rest. These pains, greatly aggravated by any motion, are found everywhere, but especially in the chest; worse pressure. these pains are due to dryness of mucous membranes. The Bryonia patient is irritable; has vertigo from raising the head, pressive headache; dry, parched lips, mouth; excessive thirst, bitter taste, sensitive epigastrium, and feeling of a stone in the stomach; stools large, dry, hard; dry cough; rheumatic pains and swellings; dropsical effusions into synovial and serous membranes.

The constitution of Bryonia is a robust, firm fiber and dark complexion, with tendency to leanness and irritability. It is a right sided remedy.

Children dislike to be carried or raised. 

BRYONIA ALBA

Mind or mental symptoms

Exceedingly irritable( like everything puts him out of humor). 
Delirium (like wants to go home, talks of business frequently).

Head symptoms

Patient feels vertigo, nausea, faintness on rising, confusion. 
He/She feels like bursting, splitting headache, sensation as if everything would be pressed out,  as if hit by a hammer from within, worse from motion, stooping, opening eyes. 
Patient will get right side headache becomes seated in occiput. 
Drawing in bones towards zygoma. 
Frontal headache, frontal sinuses involved.

Nose symptoms

Frequent bleeding of nose instead of menses. 
Morning  headache. 
Coryza with shooting and aching in the forehead. 
Swelling of tip of nose (feels as if it would ulcerate when touched).

Ear symptoms

Aural vertigo. 
Roaring, buzzing in ears.

Eye symptoms

Pressing, crushing, aching pain in the eyes. 
Glaucoma. 
Sore to touch and when moving them.

GI symptoms

Mouth symptoms

Dry and cracked lips. 
Dryness of mouth, tongue, and throat, with excessive thirst. 
Tongue coated yellowish, dark brown (heavily white in gastric derangement). 
Bitter taste . 
Burning in lower lip in old smokers. 
Lip swollen, dry, black, and cracked.

Throat  symptoms

External throat pain.
Throat stiffness of sides.
Voice hoarseness.
Dryness, sticking on swallowing.

Stomach symptoms

Increased and abnormal hunger, loss of taste. 
Thirst for large draughts of water. 
Vomiting of bile and water immediately after eating. 
Worse, warm drinks, which are vomited. 
Stomach sensitive to touch. 
Pressure in stomach after eating.
Nausea and faintness when rising up. 
Patient feel soreness in stomach when coughing. 
Dyspeptic ailments during summer heat. 
Sensitiveness of epigastrium to touch.

Abdomen symptoms

Vomiting after eating( by taking of water, food).
Tearing pain in abdomen.
Abdomen pain in right side.
Abdomen pain ( during stools, movements).
Liver part swollen. 
Burning pain in abdomen.
Tenderness of abdominal walls.

Constipation; stools hard, dry, as if burnt; seem too large. 

BRYONIA ALBA

Urine symptoms

Patient urine color  is red (brown, like beer)
Scanty
Hot.

Female symptoms

Frequent bleeding of nose instead of menses. 
Patient will get menses too early, too profuse (worse from motion, with tearing pains in legs). 
Getting bad smell while periods.
Stitching pains in ovaries on taking a deep inspiration.
Pain in right ovary as if torn, extending to thigh. 
Milk fever. 
Pain in breasts at menstrual period. 
Breasts hot and painful hard. 
Menstrual irregularities, with gastric symptoms. 
Sudden stitching pain in ovaries.

Respiratory symptoms

Bryonia is indicated in bronchitis. 

Soreness in larynx and trachea. 
Hoarseness (feeling worse in open air). 
Dry, hacking cough from irritation in upper trachea. 
Dry cough at night( feeling  worse after eating or drinking, with vomiting, with stitches in chest, and expectoration of rust-colored sputa). 
Frequent desire to take a long breath. 
Patient feels difficult in  quick respiration ( feeling worse every movement). 
Heaviness beneath the sternum extending towards the right shoulder. 
Cough worse by going into warm room. 
Patient can get sudden stitching pain in back.

Musculoskeletal symptoms

Cervical spondylosis. 
Painful stiffness in nape of neck. 
Stitches and stiffness in small of back. 
From hard water and sudden changes of weather.

Osteoarthritis. 

Knees stiff and painful.
Hot swelling of feet. 
Joints red, swollen, hot, with stitches and tearing; worse on least movement. 
Every spot is painful on pressure. 
Constant motion of left arm and leg (Helleb).

Skin symptoms

Abnormal growths with cold feeling.
Rashes on skin.
Itching.
Seborrhea. 
Yellow (pale, swollen, dropsical, hot and painful). 
Hair very greasy.

Fever symptoms

Pulse of the patient is  full, hard, tense, and quick. 
Chill with external coldness, dry cough, stitches. 
Dry burning heat.
Internal heat. 
Sour sweat after slight exertion.
Rheumatic and typhoid marked by gastro-hepatic complications. 

Patient feels drowsy (falling asleep). 

Modalities

Worse  - Warmth, any motion, morning, eating, hot weather, exertion, touch. Cannot sit up; gets faint and sick. 
Better - Lying on painful side, pressure, rest, cold things.
