Definition:

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder that causes skin cells to grow too rapidly which results in to thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin.
PSORIASIS

Pathology:

In general, skin cells grow regularly and peel off about every 4 weeks. Fresh skin cells grow to replace the outer layers of the skin as they discard. In psoriasis new skin cells progress rapidly to the surface of the skin in days rather than weeks. They assemble up and form thick patches called plaques.

These patches vary in size from small to large. They most affected are the knees, elbows, scalp, hands, feet, or lower back. Psoriasis is most common in adults. But children and teens can get it too.

The exact cause of psoriasis unknown.
